June 2008
  • Monday, June 2 - We fished with Cheff Todd, Jeff Lampe and his boys in Fulton County. The fish were not super active due to the sunny skies, but we still caught a nice mess of fish. Henry and Victor definitely outfished the old men today! We caught a handful of “Boone and Crocket” bluegills, some jumbo perch, a couple dozen walleye, a few nice largemouth, smallmouth, crappie, catfish, and hybrid striped bass. The spiderman poles were screaming most of the day!  Cheff is going to have to upgrade the boys to zebco 33’s for our next fishing trip.

  • Thursday, June 5 - We had the pleasure of fishing with Linda Kepple and Pam Emeres. We caught a carp, a few hybrid bluegill, and lots of Trout. Pam was very superstitious about the worms she would use, and Linda kind of surprised me by holding the carp and cleaning the trout! I had a lot of fun and look forward to fishing with them again.

  • Monday, June 9 - We met up with Jerry Pabst and his truckload of grandkids- Baily, Margaret, Jimmy and Alex. We fished through a massive cold front (16 degrees cooler today than yesterday) and showers off and on throughout most of the day, but we caught a ton of fish! Big rainbows and Monster carp up to 10 lbs on the Zebcos!

  • Friday, June 13 - We fished with Wes Ames of Ames Contracting from over in Iowa (They crossed the bridge before the Mississippi started rising) Doran caught the most and biggest fish by far! He was dialed in on the carp. Wes pulled a 4 pound channel cat out of the freezing cold trout water (she tasted delicious, more on that later) and Milt was pretty good at catching dinky bluegills?? I don’t have anything funny to say about Lee, but thought I should throw his name in the mix so he doesn’t feel left out. Together they caught several trout over 3 lbs and lots of 2 lbers. Then we headed out to another lake where Cheff Todd cooked us up a feast!!!!!!! (this is the part where I pick up with the she tasted delicious…) Cheff cooked up 10 trout, 1 catfish, a chunk of Mahi Mahi, some bratburgers along with a gourmet salad, grilled sweet corn on the cob and something else I probably forgot about. After the meal we did more fish watching than actually fishing, but we all pretty much had our fix for the day. Cheff Todd is our new addition to the ultimate fishing day! I sure do hope some more folks go for the shore lunch!! (keep in mind it is pretty much mandatory to take a nap after fishing all morning and eating a meal of that caliber!)

  • Friday, June 13 - Cheff Todd and I went out for the evening and fished one of the best strip mines in Fulton County. We caught 40 crappies and lots of bass. My biggest bass of the year is pictured below.

  • Tuesday, June 17 - I had the privilege of fishing with Mr. Maxwell, Joe, Keith, Justin and Emmy (like the emmy awards, I was told after my deaf ears could not recognize her name for the life of me) Before I dive into the details of the days fishing trip I would like to warn anybody who goes out and shoots clay pigeons every spare moment during high school. Wear EAR PLUGS!!! Anyhow back to the fishing. Justin was the fishing leader of the bunch, but he got out-fished somehow by his older sister! Joe kept seeing big ones swim by, but I wouldn’t believe him until he showed me by actually catching him. We caught 30 rainbows average size was 2 lbs and also a handful of big carp too. This trip was a breeze for me, because Emmy landed and dehooked most of the fish and the whole gang learned how to clean ‘em. I just sat back in my chair and enjoyed the evening observing.

  • Thursday, June 19 - Justin went out fishing with fishing guide Jeff Sikora up in Wisconsin. They caught 26 smallmouth bass over 18”!!! If you're up in the Lake Chetak area of Wisconsin, he would be the guy to book a trip with!

  • Saturday, June 21 - We took out an early morning quick trip with a big group of Fehr’s and some friends. They caught some huge trout! We had a lot of fun catching fish and taking pics. They had a party featuring grilled trout that evening, but I don’t think I was invited… (I just tell myself that I couldn’t make it…..hehe)
