Floating Islands

Floating islands are our favorite and most exciting product. They are simply buoyant mats that are made from 100% recycled plastic and are bonded together with foam.  They can be planted with virtually any type of vegetation- Flowers, Herb Gardens, Grass, Trees and Shrubs. The roots of the plants grow right through the island and feed on the nutrient rich water below.
We have found literally hundreds of ways to utilize islands, but the basic principle of the islands is to add beauty and diversity to your landscape, drastically improve water quality, and create essential habitat for wildlife and fish.

  Beauty

Floating Islands are living floating gardens that can be placed into ponds and waterways. They look just like conventional islands, but are much, much easier to install. Plants of all kinds will root in Floating Islands - because of their unique growing properties you can grow terrestrial flowers, shrubs and grasses in addition to aquatic species - the possibilities are endless! They can be anchored in place or left to float freely. Multiple Islands can be linked together to form an archipelago.

  Water Quality

Floating Island's innovative open matrix makes them highly efficient floating phytofilters - a true four-stage biological system that removes phosphates, ammonia, nitrate and nitrite. Plant roots and microbes consume excess nutrient sources that cause algae bloom, resulting in cleaner, clearer ponds. The effect on water quality is dramatic and completely chemical free!

  Habitat

If you love fish, you'll enjoy knowing that Floating Islands provide a source of both food and fun for your pond life. Roots and concentrated nutrients create a tasty floating supermarket that is beneficial to fish development. Soon you'll attract other visitors too - frogs nest at the edges of Floating Islands, while turtles bask in the sunlight topside. Larger islands provide a cherished resting spot for birds and visiting waterfowl. We hang PVC fish structure from our islands in deeper water to create the ultimate fishing structure!
