August 2008
  • Sunday, August 3 - Justin bit the dust! 19 years old and he traded the outdoor life for a house in Morton and a new wife.  Wedding stuff drives me crazy and pretty much ruins a good weekend with pictures (99% of our photography involves fish or game), and rehearsals, and ceremonies, and receptions. When Mae gets married I will be in charge of the wedding planning for sure. We will kick the weekend off with a fish fry and our closest relatives. Then take some pics Saturday with our fish or game from that morning’s adventure. Then we will have the big celebration and ceremony and top the evening off with a Hog Roast!!  No tuxedos, tight collars, or neck ties! Just a good ‘ole time with friends and family.

  • Friday, August 8 - We did some fishing with Rotenone! We killed out a clients 5 acre pond that was infested with Silver, Bighead, and Common Carp. These were some big fish! The pond is being turned into a 45 acre lake that we will stock with Smallmouths, Walleye, Crappie, and Perch!

  • Saturday, August 9 - We fished with John and Patsy Stoller and their gang of boys – Allan, Big Al (his real name was jeff or josh), and Jason. Jason was a fishing machine! He stayed up until well past midnight fishing for catfish! Bluegill, Perch, Walleye, and Hybrid Striped Bass were all caught, but they put the hurt on lots of big catfish! We had a fish fry that evening! I believe the bass below was Patsy’s first fish ever, she followed that up with a nice catfish as well.

  • Friday, August 15 - We fished with the Steffa’s and their clan from Lexington. I would have to say that the 2 girls outfished the 4 guys by about a 6 to 1 ratio! Chip did end up with a HUGE Perch that will be on his wall in a few months, and we caught a nice mixed bag of pretty much every species except catfish?

  • Sunday, August 17 - We fished with Dave Obergfel, Mike Honnegger, and my brother-in-laws and father. Mike was hesitant to go out on the party barge, because he doesn’t like to be committed to hours and hours out on the water. Needless to say he ended up catching by far the most fish, but we still let him off the boat on the far side of the lake! Fishing has been very good this month despite the low temps. I just need more time to get out on the water, I still have artificial reefs out on the main lake that have not been fished even one time yet this year?
